I think it's thrush, if it is not clear that a prescription of antibiotics is given in general, but very common in children.
Thrush would be my guess. This is a yeast infection. Bot does not understand how at this age, but usually babies or bottle feeding. This is what you may have to get rid of the intake of medicines.
I'm no expert, but as a mother of four children, I have my share of reading and research each child cope with different situations. It seems that they are throttling, could be a form of fungal infection in the mouth and can do a search on Yahoo and find pictures to compare with him. I would keep an eye on him and then call the doctor again tomorrow, if not disappeared.
